Help & FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Roomellow is an AI room design tool that lets you visualize real, purchasable furniture in your room photo. Every product shown is a real SKU you can buy from one of the brands we support. Below are the most common questions about pricing, accuracy, how the AI works, and how to use Roomellow as a furniture retailer.

Will this work for my room?

How can I see a sofa in my room before I buy it?

Upload a photo of your actual room, pick a style or describe what you want, and Roomellow generates your room with a real, in-stock sofa placed in it — correct perspective, matched to your room's lighting. Every sofa shown has a Buy link to the retailer, so you can see it in your space first and buy the exact one you liked. The first 2 renders are free, no credit card needed.

Can AI really design a room from just a photo?

Yes. Upload a photo of your actual room and Roomellow generates a redesigned version — same layout, same architecture, new furniture and styling. Most designs are ready in about 20 seconds. The AI keeps walls, windows, doors, and floors intact and only replaces the movable furniture.

Will it work for a small room or an awkward layout?

Yes. Roomellow works on any room shape — small studios, L-shaped living rooms, narrow hallways, oddly proportioned bedrooms. For tight spaces, add "small room" or "compact furniture" to your custom prompt and the AI will favor space-efficient pieces over oversized ones.

Can I use Roomellow if I rent and cannot make permanent changes?

Yes. Roomellow only redesigns the movable furniture and decor — it never touches walls, floors, windows, or anything structural. It is a great way to plan a rental refresh with pieces you can take with you when you move, and every product is one you can actually buy.

Does the AI change my walls, windows, or doors?

No. Roomellow is built to preserve all the architectural elements of your room — walls, windows, doors, flooring, ceiling features. It only replaces the movable furniture (sofas, tables, beds, lighting, decor). If the AI ever gets this wrong, regenerate or report it to hello@roomellow.com.

What if my room photo is not perfect — bad lighting, low resolution, clutter?

Roomellow works on most everyday phone photos, but better photos produce better results. Aim for natural light, a wide enough angle to show most of the room, and a clear view of the floor. If the lighting is very dim or the room is heavily cluttered, try a different angle or a tidier shot.

How accurate are the proportions in the generated design?

Style accuracy is high — what you see in the redesign matches the actual products you can buy. Dimensional precision is approximate; Roomellow estimates room scale from the photo. For tight-fit decisions ("will this 84-inch sofa fit through my doorway?") verify exact measurements on the retailer's product page before buying.

Choosing Roomellow

What is the best AI tool to visualize furniture in my actual room?

The right tool depends on one thing: can you actually buy what you see? Most AI room tools generate good-looking but fictional furniture you cannot find anywhere. Roomellow only uses real, in-stock products from brands like Joybird, Floyd, Lulu and Georgia, and Maiden Home — so the room you fall in love with is a room you can actually order. Designs are usually ready in about 20 seconds and work on any phone photo.

What is the difference between Roomellow and other AI room design tools?

Most AI design tools generate beautiful rooms full of furniture that does not exist — you are left trying to hunt down something similar. Roomellow works backwards: it picks real, purchasable products from a real catalog first, then builds your room around them. Every item has a direct Buy link to the retailer. You design and shop in one step instead of designing, then sourcing.

Is Roomellow better than AR furniture apps like IKEA Place?

They solve different problems. AR apps drop a floating 3D model on top of your existing furniture, cannot match your room's real lighting, and only work with one store's catalog. Roomellow removes the old furniture, redesigns the whole room with correctly-lit real products, and lets you mix brands — and you get a photo you can review anytime instead of having to hold your phone up. AR is good for rough placement; Roomellow is built for "does this actually look right in my home?"

How do I avoid regretting a furniture purchase I make online?

Most online furniture regret comes from not being able to picture how a piece looks in your real room — color, light, and how it sits next to everything else. Roomellow shows you new furniture in a photo of your actual space before you spend anything, and you can regenerate or swap individual pieces cheaply until it is right. For fit decisions (will an 84-inch sofa clear my doorway?), check exact dimensions on the retailer's product page — Roomellow nails style, but measurements are approximate.

Is the furniture really real?

Is the furniture in AI-designed rooms real?

Yes. Every piece in every Roomellow design is a real, in-stock product from one of the brands we support. Unlike most AI design tools that generate fictional furniture, Roomellow picks real products from a real catalog first, then builds the room around them.

Can I actually buy what I see in the design?

Yes. Every product in your generated room has a Buy link that goes directly to the retailer's product page. No "find similar items" workflow, no manual sourcing, no AI-generated furniture you cannot find anywhere.

What if a product is sold out by the time I want to buy it?

Catalog data is kept current with each store's live inventory, so the products in your design reflect what is available. If a product sells out between the time you see the design and the time you click buy, the store's page will tell you — and you can swap it for a similar item on Roomellow.

Can I combine furniture from different brands in one design?

Yes. By default, Roomellow picks coordinated products across many different brands — one room can have a Joybird sofa, a Lulu and Georgia rug, and a Floyd coffee table together. If you want to limit a design to a single brand, use that store's dedicated page.

Why do I not see Wayfair / Pottery Barn / a specific brand in the catalog?

Roomellow only includes brands we directly support, so we can guarantee accurate pricing, real stock, and direct-buy links. We are actively adding more brands. If you want a specific brand added, email hello@roomellow.com.

What does it cost?

Is Roomellow free?

Yes, the first 2 renders are free with no credit card required. After that, credit packs start at $4.99 for 8 renders. There is no subscription — credits are a one-time purchase and never expire.

How much does it cost to design a room with AI?

Your first 2 room designs are free, no credit card. After that, credit packs start at $4.99 for 8 renders (about $0.62 each), and most people land on a room they love within 2-3 tries — so a finished design typically costs around a dollar or two. There is no subscription and credits never expire.

What credit packs are available?

Three sizes, one-time purchases (no subscription). Starter is $4.99 for 8 renders ($0.62 each). Pro is $14.99 for 30 renders ($0.50 each — best value for most users). Ultimate is $29.99 for 70 renders ($0.43 each — best for heavy iteration or designing several rooms). All credits stay on your account until used and never expire.

How many free renders do I get?

2 free renders per new account. No credit card required to sign up. After the 2 free renders, you can buy a credit pack starting at $4.99 (8 renders, $0.62 each).

What happens to unused credits?

Credits never expire. They stay on your account until you use them. No monthly clearout, no subscription you need to remember to cancel.

Can I get a refund?

Email hello@roomellow.com for any payment issue (duplicate charge, payment failure, account problem) and the team will help. We do not generally refund credits that have already been used to generate designs but we work with you on legitimate problems.

How do I use it?

Does Roomellow redesign my whole room or just place one product?

Both. By default Roomellow redesigns the entire room with a coordinated set of real furniture and decor across multiple brands. If you only want to change one thing, use the swap button on any single product to replace just that piece without redoing the room.

How do I take a good room photo for the best results?

Stand against one wall and shoot the opposite wall straight-on at chest height. Open the curtains for natural light, include some floor and ceiling in the frame, and skip extreme wide-angle lens distortion. A typical iPhone or Android photo works well — no special equipment needed.

What if my room is empty, messy, or has people in it?

All three work. Empty rooms get a coordinated set of new furniture. Messy rooms get a redesigned cleaner version. If people are in the photo, faces are automatically blurred before the AI processes the image — your privacy is preserved.

Can I give the AI specific instructions?

Yes. Add a custom prompt with anything specific you want — "warm wood tones," "small space, slim furniture," "no dark colors," "kid-friendly," "must include a bookshelf." The AI uses the prompt to bias product selection toward what you actually want.

Can I set a budget for my room?

Yes. Enter a total budget before generating and Roomellow distributes it across categories (e.g., 40% to sofa, 15% to coffee table) and prefers products that fit each allocation. Budget designs lean on more affordable brands; premium designs lean on higher-end ones — both real, both purchasable.

Does Roomellow work on my phone?

Yes. The web app works on any modern phone browser, and you can install Roomellow as a Progressive Web App (PWA) — on iPhone use Safari's "Add to Home Screen", on Android use Chrome's "Install app" prompt — for an app-like experience with its own icon and fullscreen flow right now. Native iOS and Android apps are also in development.

What if I do not like the first result?

Can I regenerate the design with a different style?

Yes. Change the style (e.g., Modern to Scandinavian) or update the custom prompt, then click regenerate. Each regenerate uses one credit. Iteration is cheap — most users land on a design they love within 2-3 tries.

Can I swap a single product without redoing the whole room?

Yes. Every product in your design has a swap button. Click it to open a catalog browser, pick a replacement from the same store (or any store), and regenerate the room with just that item changed.

Can I undo a change or go back to an earlier version?

Saved designs are all kept in your dashboard at /designs. You can go back to any earlier render and continue from there. There is no per-session undo button yet — that is on the roadmap.

How many times can I iterate on the same room?

As many times as you have credits. There is no per-day or per-design limit. The Pro and Ultimate packs (30 and 70 renders) are designed for heavy iteration on a single room or designing multiple rooms.

What if I want a small change, like just a different rug color?

Use the swap button on that specific item — pick a different rug from the catalog without changing anything else. For style-level changes (warm vs cool palette), add the change to your custom prompt and regenerate the whole room.

Trust & privacy

Is my room photo private?

Yes. Photos are stored in your account and not shared publicly unless you explicitly mark a design for the public gallery. Faces are auto-blurred before any AI processing. We do not sell or share your photos with third parties.

Are my photos used to train AI?

No. Your uploaded room photos are not used to train any AI model. Photos are processed for your design and then stored only in your account for your reference.

Can other people see my designs?

Only if you opt in. Designs are private to your account by default. You can mark a specific design as public to add it to the gallery, share a single design via link, or keep everything private. Your choice.

How accurate are the product prices shown in Roomellow?

Prices are pulled directly from each store's catalog and kept current. The price you see in Roomellow is the most recent price we have synced. If a sale ends or pricing changes between sync and your click-through, the store's site will show the current price at checkout.

For furniture retailers

I own a furniture store — how does Roomellow work for retailers?

Roomellow gives your store a branded AI room-styling page where customers upload their own room and see your products styled into it, with direct links back to your product pages to buy. It is built to turn online browsers into confident buyers by letting them see your furniture in their actual space before they commit. To explore joining as a founding partner, email hello@roomellow.com or visit /for-retailers.

Does letting customers visualize furniture before buying actually increase sales?

Yes — visualization is proven to work: Shopify's platform data shows products with 3D/AR experiences convert roughly 94% better, and furniture brand CB2 reported 21% higher revenue per visit. The catch with traditional 3D and AR tools is what it takes to get there — you have to build a 3D model of every single product, which is slow, expensive, and has to be redone every time your catalog changes. Roomellow delivers the same visual confidence with none of that overhead: no 3D models, no product photo shoots, no designer, and no app for your customers to download. We work straight from your existing catalog and a shopper's phone photo, and a fully styled room is ready in about 20 seconds. Every product shown is a real, buyable SKU from your store — so the confidence that closes the sale points straight back to your checkout.

What does Roomellow cost for furniture retailers?

Two plans. Founding Partner is $199/month locked for 24 months (1,000 designs included, ~$0.20 per design, $999 setup fee waived, white-glove integration) — limited to the first 10 stores. Enterprise is $499/month (2,000 designs included, ~$0.25 per design, custom setup priced per catalog, dedicated account manager). If you prefer a percentage of AI-driven sales instead of a monthly fee, we are open to that on request.

Do I have to upload my catalog or integrate anything technical?

No. You do not write code or upload anything yourself — we handle the setup on our end. Just share your store URL and we will get your catalog ready, prepare the product images, and have you live in about 1-2 days for most stores. No plugins, no developer hours from your team.

Will customers buy from my store or from Roomellow?

From your store. Every product in a design links directly to your own product page, so the sale, the checkout, and the customer relationship stay with you. Roomellow is the visualization layer that gets them there.

How do I get my furniture brand added to Roomellow?

Email hello@roomellow.com or apply via /for-retailers. We are taking the first 10 stores at locked-in founding partner pricing in exchange for co-developing the integration and a short case study after launch. We will set up a branded store page with your catalog and walk you through a pilot before any long-term commitment.
